| Project to Summarize: | ||||
| The study concerns genotoxic impact of crude oil on sturgeon fish juveniles with application of micronucleus test. The results showed that applied oil concentrations of 100 ppm not having lethal impact, exert noticeable genotoxic effect on the sturgeons’ organism bringing to changes in the cell genetic material. Such impact is revealed in advent of micronuclei and nuclei with abnormal shape. The conjecture that such impact will reflect mandatory on ongoing juveniles’ development and their vitality seems to be rather reasonable. As a solution we propose: bioremediation which is the use of microorganisms (fungi or bacteria) to decompose toxic pollutants into less harmful compounds. In this study, the term bioremediation is used in the context of promoting the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons (oil). To fully understand bioremediation we must discuss the term biodegradation. Biodegradation is a natural process by which microbes alter and break down petroleum hydrocarbons into other substances. The resulting products can be carbon dioxide, water, and partially oxidized biologically inert by-products | ||||
