Project Name:
Green detoxificators of metalliferous soil
Project Type:
Environment-Chemistry
Project to Summarize:
The problem that affects many countries in now days is the big amount of heavy metals in the soil and water. These heavy metals are very dangerous even in very low concentration. The purpose of our project is to find which type of plants have the biggest ability of absorbing heavy metals. We have used two types of plants with different characteristics and principal organs of growth. In our experiment you compared the ability of two different plants, wheat and bean, to accumulate copper from copper sulphate solutions of different concentrations. In our experiment we have poured, every day, over our plants the solution of cupper sulphate with different concentrations(0,01M and 0,02M).Then we have measured the amount of cupper in the solution that was remained after usage of plants. And we observed that the amount of copper have decreased. In our experiment we used: 1. Six containers and soil 2. Wheat and bean seeds 3. Copper sulphate solution 4. Plastic bottles 5. Filter papers 6. Distilled water Our project is very cheap and very accessible for all countries of the world. This project can be used without loosing money and technologies. Our results showed that both wheat and bean accumulated copper at both concentrations. Wheat was the more effective accumulator at both concentrations. The wheat accumulated more copper and the filtrate contained less copper. Our results have been good. In practice was proved, that the soil detoxification problem can be solved by means of construction of specific plants, however and even this method requires too much studies and research.
